The Steeplechase by Brendan Mulvihill and pianist Donna Long was first released in 1989, and it is widely celebrated as one of the definitive albums of Irish fiddle and piano music, featuring masterful instrumentals, reels, and original compositions.
The album features a mix of high-energy reels, lively jigs, and slow, expressive airs. Notable tracks include "Jackson's / Jenny Dang the Weaver," "The Lark in the Clear Air," and the titular tune "The Steeplechase".
